Oaklands College at Generation Welwyn Hatfield

Oaklands College was proud to be part of Generation Welwyn Hatfield last week, an important event welcoming over 1,000 young people from local schools alongside more than 50 employers, all coming together to focus on future planning and progression.

As well as promoting post-16 education options, Oaklands College students played an active role in ensuring the event’s success. Travel & Tourism students volunteered throughout the day as part of their work experience, supporting the smooth delivery of the event and representing the College in a professional and positive manner.

The event opened with a powerful address recognising the hard work of the Travel & Tourism students and highlighting the importance of meaningful work experience and access to opportunities, helping to ensure that no young person is left behind.

In addition, two groups of Oaklands College students attended the event to engage directly with employers and partners, discussing future opportunities and exploring the pathways available to them beyond education.

Events like Generation Welwyn Hatfield highlight the value of collaboration between education and industry in supporting young people to make informed decisions about their future. Thank you to all the college teams involved in delivering such a well-organised and impactful event for the local community.
