At Oaklands College, we are proud to introduce Foundation Apprenticeships, a new opportunity for young people to take their first step into skilled work while learning and earning at the same time.
These apprenticeships give learners the chance to build confidence and experience in real workplaces. Over eight months, apprentices develop technical abilities, teamwork, communication skills, and essential English and maths, supported by both their employer and college tutors.
Foundation Apprenticeships are designed to help young people take their next step, whether that is moving into full-time employment or progressing onto a Level 2 or Level 3 apprenticeship. Employers also benefit by supporting and developing new talent within their industries, with funding available through the Department for Education.
One of the first Foundation Apprenticeships to launch at Oaklands focuses on General Engineering and Manufacturing Operations. Apprentices gain practical experience in areas such as production, maintenance, fabrication, and assembly, preparing them for a range of career paths in sectors like automotive, aerospace, and energy.
These programmes are about giving young people a strong start, helping them learn by doing, and connecting them with supportive employers who want to see them succeed.
At Oaklands College, we are committed to helping our learners take those first important steps into their future careers.
