Oaklands College Increasing Achievement Rates

Oaklands College has achieved a remarkable rise in the latest Department for Education National Achievement Rate Tables (NARTs) for 2023–24, positioning the institution among the top further education providers in the country.

The College has made significant progress nationally, climbing an impressive 59 place - from 107th to 48th in the overall standings. Notably, Oaklands has also soared in the Under-19 Achievement category, rising from 77th to 17th place.

Performance in adult education has continued to improve, and apprenticeship provision remains strong, maintaining outcomes in line with national averages.

“The NARTs are among the most rigorous assessments of further and adult education success nationwide,” said Andrew Slade, Principal and CEO of Oaklands College. “These results are a testament to the outstanding commitment of our staff and students. We are driven by a strong dedication to excellence and a desire to continue raising standards.”

This success reflects a broader transformation across the College, including significant investments in student experience and facilities. Recent highlights include the opening of the £7.5 million High Performance Centre for sport and a new state-of-the-art Construction Centre - both underscoring Oaklands’ commitment to a modern, future-focused education.

Serving over 7,000 students across campuses in St Albans, Welwyn Garden City, and Borehamwood, Oaklands College offers diverse academic and vocational programmes, from A levels and T levels to elite sports and adult learning.

“Oaklands’ progress over the past few years has been truly inspiring,” added Mr. Slade. “I’m incredibly proud of everyone in the Oaklands community for their relentless pursuit of excellence.”
