Oaklands Wolves Athlete Balances Cheerleading with Motor Vehicle Studies

Amalie Mynott-Smith, a 16-year-old student at Oaklands College, is proving that dedication and passion can go hand in hand. Currently in her first year studying Motor Vehicle Level 2, Amalie is also an enthusiastic member of the Oaklands Wolves Cheerleading Academy.

Having pursued cheerleading for over four years, Amalie’s love for the sport continues to grow. When she discovered she could combine her studies with her sporting passion, she seized the opportunity and enrolled at Oaklands College in September last year.

Amalie trains three to four times a week, splitting her sessions between her club and the Oaklands Wolves Cheerleading Academy. While cheerleading is often regarded as one of the most challenging sports, Amalie identifies conditioning as the toughest aspect. However, she remains determined, pushing herself in every session to improve and excel, hoping to compete in America over the Summer.

Reflecting on her time at Oaklands College so far, Amalie describes it as an enjoyable experience. “I’ve been able to make new cheer friends and train in a different environment,” she said.

Looking ahead, once she completes her Motor Vehicle course, Amalie aspires to secure an apprenticeship to further her knowledge and skills in the vehicle industry. Her ambition and dedication both in sport and academics highlight her as an inspiring student at Oaklands College.
