The Oaklands Wolves Hockey Academy is proud to celebrate an achievement as former student John Bennett has been selected to represent the Wales Men’s Senior Squad for the Nations Cup in Malaysia. This marks a major milestone for both Bennett and the academy, as he becomes the first alumni to earn a full senior cap for a national team.
Bennett, who was part of the Oaklands Wolves Hockey Academy between 2018 and 2020, has demonstrated some amazing progression in his hockey career since leaving the college. Immediately after graduating, he was selected to play for the Wales Under-21 squad, where he began making a name for himself with impressive performances on the international stage.
His dedication and development have seen him climb the ranks to the senior level, earning two caps for the Wales Men’s National Team. John’s father commented – “I have no doubt that Oaklands College and Hockey Academy contributed significantly to Johns development and their support for him was critical in his selection. We are immensely proud of him and are very grateful to Simon Archer and his team.”
Bennett’s selection not only highlights his personal achievement but also underscores the growing reputation of the Oaklands Wolves Hockey Academy as a centre of excellence for nurturing elite-level talent.
