Oaklands Wolves Men’s Rugby Academy delivered a standout performance last week as they competed in the RFU ACE League, the highest level of school and college rugby in the country.
The competition brought together 22 elite teams from across the country, each battling for national ranking. The squad impressed from the outset, navigating a tough North Pool where they secured victories over Bishop Burton, Myerscough, and Stourport to finish third and progress to the playoffs.
Placed into Pool A for the final stages, the squad continued their strong run, defeating both Gordons School and Loughborough. Their efforts earned an impressive fourth place finish overall. This is the academy’s highest ranking in several years and a significant milestone for the programme.
Head of Rugby, Chris Waring, praised the team’s performance throughout the campaign:
“I am extremely proud of the squad and staff who have worked incredibly hard all season to achieve 4th place in the most competitive schools competition in the country. To think that two thirds of the squad will return next year with the experience and ambition to push on and compete for an even higher finishing position is very exciting for the rugby programme at Oaklands going forward.”
The Wolves now look ahead to the remainder of the season with confidence, aiming to challenge more top teams and continue climbing the league. Their growth signal a promising future for Oaklands’ rugby pathway.
