Campus Masterplan: Shaping Our Future

Our Campus Masterplan sets out an ambitious vision for the future of our estate, across both St Albans and Welwyn Garden City, outlining how we will create modern, sustainable and inspiring spaces for our students, staff and local community.

Over the coming years, we aim to transform key areas of our campus with new facilities, improved learning environments and enhanced social spaces that support the evolving needs of our College community. 

St Albans Campus

Campus Flyover Overview

This campus flyover provides a broad visual overview of how key areas of the St Albans Campus estate could evolve in the years ahead. The video offers an early, high‑level look at potential redevelopment zones, improved connections across the site and opportunities to enhance the overall campus environment.

While still conceptual, the flyover helps illustrate the scale of the vision and how future enhancements may work together to create a more welcoming, accessible and inspiring place for students, staff and the wider community.

Animal Approach Walkthrough

The Animal Approach offers a first look at how key areas of our land‑based campus may evolve in the coming years. This walkthrough provides a visual overview of potential improvements designed to enhance both the learning environment and the experience of moving through our animal‑related facilities, including facilities open to the community. 

 

While still early in development, the concept highlights how future spaces could become more welcoming, functional and supportive of the diverse needs of our students, staff and visitors.

Creative Gateway Approach Walkthrough

The Creative Gateway building is an integral part of the Masterplan. This approach video offers an early visual impression of how this key arrival point to our creative and vocational areas at our St Albans Campus could develop in the future and evolve, providing an inspiring route through the campus, as well as a dynamic external space. 

 

This vision highlights opportunities to enhance movement, visibility and the overall experience for students, staff and visitors as they navigate this important part of the college.

Film Studio Walkthrough

The Film Studio walkthrough offers an early look at how our creative media facilities could be enhanced in the future. This concept provides a broad visual impression of potential improvements designed to support modern learning, encourage collaboration and create a more dynamic environment for film and media students.

 

The walkthrough highlights opportunities to develop spaces that are more flexible, industry‑inspired and supportive of a key growth sector. 

High Needs Centre Walkthrough

The High Needs Centre walkthrough offers an early glimpse into how dedicated support spaces for learners with additional needs may develop in the future. This concept provides a broad visual overview of potential enhancements aimed at creating a more accessible, calm and inclusive environment.

 

The walkthrough highlights opportunities to improve specialist facilities, strengthen support pathways and ensure every learner can thrive within a welcoming, purpose-built setting.

Welwyn Garden City Campus

Oaklands College Confirms Commitment to Welwyn Garden City

Oaklands College has reaffirmed it's commitment to Welwyn Garden City. Options to redevelop, rebuild or relocate the campus within the town are part of the draft Local Plan.

The College continues to invest in the current site and remains committed to supporting local skills, education, and the town’s future.
