Entry requirements

We will give you an online assessment to find out what level you should begin your learning at. Your English will need to be at least one level below the maths course you need to study, as the language in maths is academic. With all Government funded course you must start studying at the level of your assessments and work your way up to the higher level if your results are lower.

Teaching staff

You will be supported by an experienced specialist teacher allocated when your course starts, who is experienced in teaching the Functional Skills specification and continues to attend training sessions that allow them to keep up to date with current changes and modes of assessment within examination boards.

This course runs for 12 weeks and includes one final assessment at the end of your learning, which consists of two papers, a non-calculator and a calculator paper. To undertake this online course, it is essential that you are confident using the internet and email. You will also need access to a printer and scanner. If you do not have a scanner, free smartphone apps can be used.

About the course

This qualification equip learners with the practical skills needed in everyday life, education, and the workplace. They are widely recognised by employers, and many universities accept them as part of their entry requirements. If you have never obtained a GCSE pass at grades A'C / 4'9 in Maths and you are British or have settlement status, this course will be fully funded by the UK Government. Distance Learning means you only need to come into College to sit your final exam. To undertake this online course, you will need access to a computer and the internet. It is essential that you are confident using the internet and email and also have access to a printer and scanner.
