For entry onto the HNC in Civil Engineering a candidate must be at least 18 years old and fulfil one of the following: A Level 3 qualification in an industry related subject or two A levels in science or technology subjects. In addition you will need GCSEs in English and Maths (Higher paper) at grade 4/C or above. Other requirements are experience that can be identified and authenticated to give good prospects for successful course completion. Normal entry requirements are that applicants should be in appropriate employment or have been in appropriate employment during the last 2 years.
A team of professional lecturing staff many of whom have had considerable experience in the construction or civil engineering industry.

Candidates are assessed by a variety of methods, including case studies, assignments, time constrained assessments and work based projects.
With an HNC in Civil Engineering, you can progress to a Level 5 qualification such as an HND or Level 5 Diploma in Civil Engineering, further developing your technical knowledge and skills. Following successful completion at Level 5, you may progress on to a Level 6 top-up degree in Civil Engineering or a related discipline at a university, leading to a full Bachelor's degree (BEng/BSc). Alternatively, you can move directly into employment within the civil engineering and construction industry in roles such as site engineering, project support, design support, or technician-level positions, with opportunities to progress further through professional development.
Successful completion of the Extended Diploma in Construction can lead to progression on to the HNC in Construction or other Higher Education courses or alternatively into employment within the construction and property industry.
