You will be assed by qualified carpentry assessors for your practical & theory work. You will also be required to pass one nationally set on-line multiple choice Health & Safety exam under strict exam conditions.

Career options

On successful completion of your study programme you will be able to apply for either L2 Site carpentry, L2 Bench joinery or progress into an alternative construction area of the college.

Many carpenters and joiners are self-employed. You could also find work with large construction companies, local authorities, shopfitting firms, or in set-building for theatre and television.

Course Content - What will I learn?

Level 1 Course Content During this programme, you will learn: Safe Use of Tools How to correctly and safely use a range of carpentry tools and equipment. Reading Drawings & Setting Out Understand technical drawings and learn how to set out work accurately. Constructing Carpentry Joints Practice creating a variety of joints used in carpentry and joinery. Construction Safety Gain essential knowledge of health and safety regulations within the construction industry.
