Your skills will be directly observed in the workplace by a qualified childcare assessor .All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.

About the course

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work supervised with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. The qualification content meets the Department for Education's (DfE) Level 2 full and relevant criteria for a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner in the workforce. This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children in settings which cover 0-5yr old children.

Career options

This qualification allows progression on to the Level 3 Early Years Educator qualifications and other relevant Level 3 qualifications relating to early years and child care.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The roles and responsibilities of a level 2 practitioner to include understanding and application of legislation linked to safeguarding; health and safety; EDI; SEN as well understanding the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to be able you to support colleagues with planning and understand how to sequence learning and development for children. You will draw on your own experience and skills to reflect on your practice and demonstrate how you support families.'You will support key persons in your setting as children transition to school and show your understanding of other micro transitions.
