Your skills will be directly observed in the workplace by a qualified childcare assessor .All units will be internally assessed using a range of methods which could include: written assignments or tasks such as designing a leaflet or booklet, charts or diagrams or setting up an information board.

About the course

The aim of this qualification is to prepare learners to become early years educators, enabling them to work unsupervised with children from birth to five years and gain knowledge of children aged five to seven years. This qualification provides learners with an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills needed when working directly with children in settings which cover 0-5yr old children . To make this qualification full and relevant you will need to have/achieve a Level 2 in English (GCSE or functional skill), as well as Paediatric First Aid.

Career options

This qualification allows progression on to the following: ' employment: o educator in day nurseries o educator in nursery schools o educator in reception classes in primary schools o pre-school worker ' further education: o NCFE CACHE Level 5 Diploma for the Early Years Senior Practitioner ' higher education 'personal statements may be accepted by universities

Course Content - What will I learn?

The roles and responsibilities of a level 3 early years educator to include understanding and application of legislation linked to safeguarding; health and safety; EDI; SEN as well understanding the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum to be able you to plan and sequence learning and development for children. You will draw on your own experience and skills to reflect on your practice and demonstrate how you support families. You will demonstrate how you support children as they prepare for school entry and the skills they will need for this transition.
