Functional Skills Maths & English for Adults

Key Information

We offer a range of Maths and English courses for adult learners aged 19 and over. Our courses cover multiple levels, so whether you’re starting out or building on existing skills, there’s an option to suit you.

Our Functional Skills courses provide a flexible and supportive online learning experience, with only the exams taken in person - ideal for adults balancing study with other commitments.

Course Start Dates

Our 12 week courses run three times during the academic year.

2026/2027 Availability

  • Summer 2026 (April - July)  - Deadline for applications 23rd March 2026 
  • Autumn 2026 (September - December) - Deadline for applications 3rd August 2026 
  • Spring 2027 (January - March/April) - Deadline for applications 11th December 2026

MATHS & ENGLISH COURSES

FAQ's - Maths & English Adult Distance Learning

No. Maths & English Functional Skills are fully funded by the UK Government for eligible applicants.


No. Learning is accessed at your own pace online. Only exams are in person at our St Albans Campus. 

12 weeks. Supported study at your own pace within the12 weeks, with an exam in the 13th week. 

There are 3 opportunities to join a course each academic year during the Autumn, Spring and Summer terms. See above for next intakes.
