Meet the Coaches

Chris Waring - Head of Academy

Chris has coached at Oaklands since 2006, becoming Head of Rugby in 2015.

Chris has also coached Level 5 Senior teams at Westcliff RFC 2015-2019 and Rochford Hundred 2019-2020, and Herts County U16 in around 2014.

Sam Townsend - Rugby Coach and Lecturer in Sport & Public Services

Sam has coached at the college for 4 years.

He has also coached & played in 4 continents across an 18 year career.

Currently mens 1st XV coach at Huel Tring RFC.

Has occupied roles as Head Coach for Verulamians RFC, Camelot RFC, St Albert RFC (Canada), as well as Herts U18 & London South-East U18.

Rhys Davies - Mens Ace Rugby Head Coach

Rhys currently work for Saracens Academy as the Development Phase Lead (U18s, U17s & ACE).

Rhys previously began his coaching craft with England Rugby and the RFU before moving full time with London Irish Rugby Club. When London Irish went into administration, Rhys was picked up by Saracens.

Fun Fact: Rhys used to own a pub in Worcester called 'The Morgan'.
