Learners Secure Job Opportunity Following Oaklands College Retail Course Success

A learner known as JB has successfully secured employment with Home Bargains after completing a recent Retail and Employability course delivered in March.

Initially approaching the course with low expectations, JB described a transformative experience that significantly changed their outlook. Central to this was the impact of tutor Tracey Shakeshaft, whose engaging teaching style and supportive approach made a lasting impression.

“Tracey was not only a pleasure to be taught by, but someone I genuinely looked forward to seeing each day,” JB shared.

Despite early doubts about the course’s value, JB reported leaving with a renewed sense of confidence and a far more positive attitude towards working in retail. The course also provided a recognised qualification, further strengthening their employability.

Shortly after completing the programme, JB was offered a position with Home Bargains, an outcome they described as greatly appreciated and a direct result of the skills and mindset developed during the course.

Along with JB, five other learners secured job offers directly from the course. The programme has had a positive impact on their lives, providing valuable opportunities and a strong pathway into employment.
