On 9 June, a group of ESOL learners took part in their first Hospitality and Catering enrichment session at The Stables, as part of a new June enrichment programme.
The session welcomed eight students, who took part in a range of practical activities alongside our Entry Level Hospitality and Catering students. The experience provided an opportunity for ESOL learners to develop new skills, gain an insight into the hospitality industry and experience a working environment in a welcoming and supportive setting.
While some students were initially hesitant, they quickly settled into the session after being paired with a Hospitality and Catering student. The peer support helped them feel comfortable and encouraged them to get involved in the activities.
Mahnaz, one of the ESOL learners who took part, said:
“I really enjoyed my time there and learned many new skills and valuable things about the Hospitality and Catering industry. The experience was very interesting and helped me understand the work environment better. Everyone was very friendly, welcoming and supportive. The staff made me feel comfortable and encouraged me throughout the day, which made the experience even more enjoyable.”
A huge thank you to our Entry Level Hospitality and Catering students and Jeff Mason for their support, encouragement and warm welcome, helping to create such a positive and inclusive learning environment for our ESOL learners.
Well done to everyone involved in making the first session such a valuable and rewarding experience. We look forward to seeing the June enrichment programme continue to provide learners with opportunities to build confidence, develop practical skills and explore new areas of learning.
