Fashion Business, Fashion Retail and Fashion Design students from Oaklands College recently participated in an enriching course experience day at the University of Hertfordshire Fashion Department, gaining valuable exposure to higher education and industry-level creative practice.
During the visit, students took part in a hands-on pattern cutting workshop, strengthening their technical understanding of garment construction and how design ideas are translated into finished pieces. They then developed their work further by transferring their designs into CLO 3D, enabling them to visualise and refine their patterns within a professional 3D digital environment.
The session provided an insightful introduction to university-level study within fashion, while also highlighting the blend of creative and technical skills required across the industry. Students found the experience particularly beneficial in supporting their understanding of future progression routes, helping them to consider both higher education and career opportunities within the fashion sector.
