LIFE Students Begin Creative Project at St Albans Cathedral

Students from Oaklands College’s LIFE department have embarked on an exciting new project in collaboration with St Albans Cathedral, helping to create a brand-new pilgrimage puppet for the Annual Alban Day Parade in 2026.

During their first session, students explored the inspiring story of Saint Alban, learning how he became Britain’s first Christian martyr and why his legacy continues to be celebrated each year through this special community event.

The Cathedral team praised the students for their enthusiasm and creativity throughout the session, as they began planning the design and structure of the puppet that will play a central role in next year’s parade.

This creative partnership provides students with a unique opportunity to learn through hands-on experience, teamwork, and storytelling — all while contributing to one of St Albans’ most cherished traditions.

We can’t wait to see how their imaginative ideas come to life as the project develops in the months ahead!
