Oaklands College Hosts Successful FE Games 2026

Oaklands College was proud to host the FE Games 2026, welcoming learners from across Hertfordshire for a day dedicated to inclusive sport, teamwork and achievement.

Backed by the Hertfordshire Sport and Physical Activity Partnership, the event brought together students from North Hertfordshire College, West Herts College and Hertford Regional College. Oaklands College provided the facilities, organisation and support to deliver a memorable and inclusive experience for everyone involved.

The day began with an opening ceremony featuring an inspiring talk from guest speaker Kris Aves, Campaign Ambassador for No Limits 2026. Kris shared his personal story and spoke about overcoming barriers through sport, perfectly reflecting the spirit of the event and helping to set the tone for the day ahead.

We were also delighted to welcome the National Paralympic Heritage Trust, which brought a collection of Paralympic memorabilia for students to view and take photographs with.

Throughout the day, students from Oaklands College’s LIFE provision competed alongside peers from across the county in a range of activities, including football, boccia, archery, throwing events and cricket. Participants demonstrated determination, teamwork and enthusiasm in every activity, embodying the values at the heart of the FE Games.

A huge congratulations to all the students who took part, and thank you to the staff, volunteers and partners whose hard work helped make the event such a success.

We would also like to thank the visiting colleges and learners who brought so much energy, positivity and team spirit to the day.
