Oaklands College Inspires Future Careers at Generation St Albans 2026

Oaklands College was proud to attend Generation St Albans 2026, an inspiring careers event bringing together 750 attendees, including 500 students from 16 key feeder schools and 40 local businesses.

The event provided a valuable opportunity for young people to meet education and industry representatives, explore career pathways and discover the wide range of opportunities available across the region.

The day opened with inspiring talks from Norman Jennings, Operations Director at Hertfordshire Futures, Councillor Paul de Kort, Leader of St Albans City and District Council, and the Hertfordshire Futures team. Speakers highlighted the importance of collaboration between education, employers and the local community in helping young people achieve their career ambitions.

Throughout the event, Oaklands teams engaged with students as they explored their future options and discovered the courses, career pathways and progression opportunities available at the College.

Our VR team showcased immersive learning experiences, demonstrating how technology is being used to enhance learning at Oaklands. Colleagues from Careers and Marketing were also on hand to provide guidance and advice, helping students consider their next steps and find out more about studying at Oaklands.

Students were also able to meet members of our Oaklands Wolves Academy teams, including Netball, Combat and Cycling. The teams highlighted the sporting opportunities available to students who want to develop their skills and pursue their sporting ambitions alongside their studies.

Generation St Albans provided an excellent platform for Oaklands to connect with young people, local employers and organisations from across the community.

Events like this play an important role in helping young people make informed decisions about their futures, while strengthening connections between education, industry and the local community.

It was fantastic to meet so many young people throughout the day and inspire them as they consider their next steps.

A big thank you to all the Oaklands staff involved for their enthusiasm, expertise and support in making Generation St Albans 2026 such a success.
