Oaklands College is delighted to celebrate the success of Level 3 Makeup student Ruby Gamblen, who has achieved first place in the Wigs, Hair and Makeup category of the prestigious Royal Ballet and Opera House Design Challenge.
Ruby earned the opportunity to represent Oaklands College following her success at the College’s recent Hair and Makeup showcase held at the Welwyn Garden City campus, where she was recognised as a winner in the in-house creative competition.
The Royal Ballet and Opera House Design Challenge brings together talented students from schools and colleges across the UK, providing young creatives with the opportunity to showcase their artistic and technical abilities within a professional industry setting.
Ruby’s outstanding achievement is a testament to her creativity, dedication and hard work throughout her studies at Oaklands College. Her winning entry impressed judges with its high level of skill, attention to detail and creative vision within the Wigs, Hair and Makeup category.
As part of her success, Ruby has been invited to attend the Royal Ballet and Opera, where she will gain valuable behind-the-scenes insight into the professional industry and have the opportunity to engage with experts working within theatre, wigs, hair and makeup.
In addition, Ruby’s work will be featured in a public exhibition at the Royal Opera House, allowing visitors to view and celebrate her creativity and technical talent.
Oaklands College is incredibly proud of Ruby’s achievement and would also like to recognise the dedication and support provided by the Hair and Makeup teaching team in helping students develop their skills and confidence.
Congratulations to Ruby on this fantastic accomplishment. We look forward to seeing what she achieves next in her creative journey.
