About the course

This one-day course covers the core skills of bricklaying, starting with how to mix mortar to the correct ratio and consistency. Learners then practise cutting bricks safely and accurately using the proper tools. The course introduces queen closers, explaining their purpose and how to prepare and position them. To finish, participants apply all skills by setting out and building a small English bond wall, ensuring correct placement of stretchers, headers, and closers.

Career options

Additional short DIY courses include Build a Cavity Wall, Build a Pier and Lay a Patio.

Materials that learner need to provide: Please bring with you, if possible, steel toe capped boots (we have some boots but this will depend on sizes), a packed lunch and drink.
