Sector Specific Skills Training in Hertfordshire

This is what Skills Bootcamps do for those who take part. For employers they mean recruiting or developing staff with the right skills at the right time, at low cost or zero cost.

Why join a skills Bootcamp at Oaklands?

Skills Bootcamps are open to people aged 19+. You can gain valuable knowledge and skills required for employment or to progress in your current role, and at no cost to you. 

We prepare each individual for work or expand opportunities through careers information, advice and guidance. If you are seeking work, you will benefit from a guaranteed interview with an employer on completion of the training.

Oaklands Skills Bootcamps are provided working in partnership with the Hertfordshire Futures, as part of the Government's Lifetime Skills Guarantee. Helping adults to retrain, whatever their starting point.

Upcoming Skills Bootcamp Courses

Digital Skills
This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills in understanding digital marketing. The course includes marketing fundamentals, digital marketing, data management, communication and content, skills and tools including AI, and a project.
Next Cohort End Date: 7th November 2024

These courses equip learners with the knowledge and skills in understanding the role of a Skilled Track Operative working on the overground lines. The course includes manual handling, track induction, emergency first aid, powered plant and small tools, and personal track safety.

Please Note: Learners will need to be able to travel regularly to Canning Town, London where most of the training will be held. Learners will also need to pass a Medical & Drugs and Alcohol screening.
Cohort Start Date: January 2025 

This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills in understanding the role of a Landscape & Environment Operative, and an Arborist. The course includes benefits and insights working within the sector.

Cohort Start Date: November 2024

This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills to allow individuals to start their own childminding business on a self-employed contract. The course includes Safeguarding, SEND, Paediatric First Aid, Food Hygiene, Child Development, Awareness of mental health, Speech Language and Communication, and Business startup for self-employed. 

As part of the course, you will be supported to complete the registration process to register as an Ofsted Childminder, along with any associated paperwork to complete so that this is all completed on completion of the course.

Working with the Hertfordshire County Council, the course will equip you with accredited qualifications and support towards gaining your DBS which you will require to start up your business.
Cohort Start Date: TBC

This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills in understanding the available pathways within Engineering. The course includes an introduction to engineering principles, engineering in mechanical, electrical, software and programming, innovation and design thinking, skills development, real-world engineering projects and career preparation.
