English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL)
Learn to speak English at Oaklands and develop your language skills for the future. Our English Language courses are for people whose first language is not English and who wish to develop their language skills for everyday life, for work or in order to progress into education or further study.
Studying ESOL at Oaklands College
We offer a range of full-time and part-time English Language courses. To apply for a course you must complete an application form and an English test, so that we know you have a suitable level of English for your courses. If you are applying for an academic course we must also see the highest qualification you have from your own country, translated into English.
CITIZENSHIP - If you are studying to obtain Citizenship, you must take the exam at a registered centre. Please look at the Home Office website for a list of centres. Oaklands is not a registered centre. However, we can help you to improve your English to pass your exam.
LEVELSÂ - Courses are available from Entry 1 to Level 2
CONCESSIONS – Fee concessions are available for people who are unemployed and on a recognised benefit
ESOL 16-18 PROGRAMME – prepares students for ESOL Skills for Life Speaking and Listening and Reading and Writing, Functional Skills Maths and ICT, a Certificate or Award in Employability and Personal Development and Vocational tasters e.g. Hospitality, Photography or Construction
