Why study Applied & Forensic Science at Oaklands College

Our science courses are best suited for students who have an eye for detail and an inquisitive nature. These skills, coupled with a passion for science, allow our students to better explore the realms of forensic science.

As well as gaining knowledge in the classroom, you will also get a chance to visit real working environments where applied science can be put into practice, including laboratories, museums, police ride alongs, law courts and hear from professionals in the field such as Forensic Detectives, and the Metropolitan Police

Qualifications

The BTEC qualifications in Applied Sciences and Forensic Science provide a work-related course of study that covers the knowledge and practical skills required in the sector. The Level 3 Extended Diploma programme, developed in the areas of a laboratory and industrial science, is equivalent to 3 A Levels and can lead to direct entry to university.

Extended Degree

If you want to study for a degree but do not meet the entry requirements, completion at this level will guarantee you entry onto the first year of your chosen degree. Applicants can study towards foundation degrees validated by University of Hertfordshire and delivered at Oaklands College. A Study programme is made up of four key elements which includes a main vocational qualification, the development of English and maths through the study of GCSEs or Functional Skills, Work-related learning through work experience and Personal Development Reviews.
