Why study Public Services at Oaklands College

Our Public Services courses cover a variety of subjects that will enable you to demonstrate a full understanding of the skills required in this highly competitive sector. These include teamwork, leadership, citizenship, understanding diversity and discipline. 

Our courses are very hands on and work experience, trips and talks from guest speakers play an important part of the learning experience. Visits include a week long residential stay with the British Army as well as visits to Westminster and the Imperial War Museum. 

Students also gain valuable experience working with Crucial Crew to help deliver interactive educational activities to year 6 students in a range of subjects including first aid, online safety and drugs awareness. 

This is part of an initiative run by St Albans City & District Community Safety Partnership in conjunction with local public services.

    TRIPS & TALKS - Highlights include a week long residential stay with the British Army, a day with firefighters at St Albans Fire Station, The Imperial War Museum, The Houses of Parliament and Bletchley Park, the home of code breaking.

    OUTDOOR ACTIVITY PROGRAMME - Our outdoor activity programme includes activities such as rock climbing, kayaking and team-building.
