The Oaklands Wolves have officially brought their sensational 2024/25 SLBW campaign to a close; and what a season it’s been. The Wolfpack walk away as SLBW Trophy winners and League champions, marking a landmark year for the programme and cementing their place among the elite in women’s basketball.
Despite a narrow defeat in the PlayOff Final at the O2 Arena on Sunday 18 May, the Wolves delivered a spirited performance against a formidable Sheffield Hatters side. The game was fiercely contested, with both teams battling for every possession. While the Hatters ultimately came out on top, the Wolves left everything on the floor and demonstrated the heart and resilience that has defined their season.
One of the standout performances came from Sam Ashby, who was relentless throughout the clash, racking up an outstanding 24 points to keep Oaklands in contention and showcasing her talent on the biggest stage.
This season has been nothing short of historic for Oaklands Wolves. For the first time in programme history, the team not only topped the regular-season standings but also lifted the coveted SLBW Trophy, a testament to months of hard work, dedication, and belief. The Wolves have grown from strength to strength, with their brand of fast, fearless basketball winning them plaudits across the league.
More than just silverware, this season has signalled a shift, a force in women’s basketball. The team’s success has brought national attention to Oaklands and laid the groundwork for an even stronger 2025/26 campaign.
As the players reflect on a monumental year, there’s no doubt the Wolfpack will be back hungrier than ever, ready to build on this incredible foundation.
