Students from our Public Services cohort proudly represented the college at the official opening of the Knife Angel monument in Welwyn Garden City town centre this earlier this month. The event, hosted by Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, marks the start of a month-long programme of anti-violence youth engagement activities taking place across the borough and wider county.
The Knife Angel - a powerful national sculpture crafted from over 100,000 surrendered blades - stands as both a striking symbol of peace and a memorial to the lives lost through knife crime and violence.
Our students worked alongside local police officers, council representatives, and community leaders during the opening ceremony, completing two-hour shifts to support public safety and visitor engagement throughout the day. Their professionalism and dedication were widely praised by event organisers and members of the public.
This important initiative not only raises awareness of the devastating impact of knife crime but also encourages young people to make positive life choices and promote safer communities.
The college is extremely proud of the students’ commitment and community spirit in supporting such a meaningful and impactful event.
