Level 2 Safeguarding

Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools is the perfect introductory qualification for anyone interested in starting a career in education, including working in voluntary or paid positions in schools. You will learn about various school settings, policies and procedures, child development, communication skills, equality, inclusion, and how to support diverse learners. The course also covers awareness of safeguarding and Prevent at Level 1, essential for volunteering or working in schools in any role.

Following on from the Level 1 Award in Preparing to Work in Schools, the Level 2 qualification focuses on the fundamentals of supporting children and young people at schools and colleges, and is suitable for those wanting to work in support roles, who may later wish to qualify as teaching assistants or learning support assistants. In addition to enhancing your skills and confidence, it will boost your CV, giving you an advantage when applying for support work in schools or colleges.

The course covers schools and colleges as organisations, development stages of children and young people, effective communication, legislation and policy frameworks, health and safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and data protection, and equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people. The course also includes a separate, detailed unit on safeguarding and the Prevent Duty in schools and colleges (at Level 2), essential for anyone working in educational institutions.
