Oaklands College Student Daisy Strikes Gold at National Swimming Championships

Oaklands College Level 3 Art and Design student Daisy has celebrated an impressive swimming success after helping her team secure gold at the Swim England National Combo Cup Championships in Sheffield.

Daisy, who has recently started her second year of Level 3 Art and Design, competed as part of the Deadpool Team in the 15–19 Division 2 category, where the team finished in first place.

Their performance was a particular highlight of the weekend, with their routine described by many as the swim of the day, including the event’s official photographer.

The championships brought together teams from across the country, with Daisy’s club drawing swimmers from Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire and Essex. Despite training for just four hours a week across sessions in Welwyn Garden City and Hatfield, the club delivered an outstanding performance throughout the competition.

The club also finished third overall in the fiercely contested Combo Cup, narrowly missing out on first place by just two points. Their success included beating one of the winning club’s teams, an unexpected result that earned congratulations for their impressive routines.

Daisy’s achievement is a fantastic example of the dedication and commitment students bring to their interests outside the classroom, balancing their studies at Oaklands with success in competitive sport.

Congratulations to Daisy on this fantastic achievement!
