SECTOR SPECIFIC FUNDED SKILLS TRAINING IN HERTFORDSHIRE

Skills Bootcamps

flexible fast track training

Skills Bootcamps offer funded flexible fast track training covering sector specific knowledge and skills as part of the Government’s Lifetime Skills Guarantee.

These courses will allow you to retrain or upskill whatever your starting point and launch your career into a new role, opportunity, or self-employed contract.

With a range of delivery models including face to face and online, our programmes last a maximum of 12 weeks. Many of our courses also include work experience so you can put the theory into practice at an employer’s location.

Please be aware these opportunities are only available for residents of Hertfordshire. 

Self-referred learners

Self-referred learners will have the opportunity of an interview on completion of the course, and to support your next steps, we are working with employers who have employment opportunities for our graduates.

Our Skills Bootcamp team will be on hand to support you and provide information and guidance to reach your goals.

Upcoming Skills Bootcamp Courses

Start date: Wednesday 28th January 
End date: Wednesday 25th March 
  • Days/Times: 1 set day per week 10am – 1pm
  • Location: Online
  • Duration: 9 weeks term time only
  • Aimed at: Self-Employed or Employers looking to upskill their current employees

This course equips learners with the knowledge and skills in understanding digital marketing includes marketing fundamentals, digital marketing, data management, communication and content, skills and tools including AI, and a project.

The course is ideal for self-employed individuals looking to secure new opportunities, clients, and contract through the development of a clear business plan as part of the Skills Bootcamp. It is also ideal for employers to enrol their staff members to support their development within the company.

Start Date: Wednesday 4th February
End Date: Wednesday 25th March

  • Days/Times: Wednesday’s 1pm – 5pm
  • Location: Online via teams
  • Duration: 8 weeks

This 8-week course prepares individuals to gain knowledge and skills to become a data engineer within the digital industry. Our fully online course offers virtual sessions delivered by our experienced tutor and on completion of the course, all graduates will have a guaranteed interview with our employer within Hertfordshire with employment opportunities.

The course includes topics such as python programming fundamentals, git and version control, agile/project workflows, testing concepts, cloud and azure fundamentals, cyber security essentials, and working with stakeholders.

Additional Eligibility:

  • Grade C/4 or above, Level 2 Functional Skills in English and Maths
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Confident using computers, managing files and navigating online learning platforms

  • Location: Face to Face at our St Albans Campus 
Looking to work within the Rail industry? 
This course allows individuals to gain the foundation knowledge and skills to work within the Rail Industry with a guaranteed interview for all graduates with employers who have employment opportunities in Hertfordshire. 
You will receive a blended approach of theory led sessions and practical work exercises. 
This 15-day programme includes the following qualifications: Fire Safety, First Aid, Manual Handling, Network Rail E Learning, Introduction to Rail, PTS 
Additional Eligibility: 
A good level of written and speaking English  
Be able to pass a Drugs & Alcohol Test and a Medical Screening (To a minimum of level 1 or Grade D/E/3)

  • Days/Times: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm 
  • Location: Face to Face at our St Albans Campus 
Looking to work and gain the fundamentals and basic techniques in the construction trades? 
This course allows individuals to gain the knowledge and skills to work within a variety of construction trades with a guaranteed interview for all graduates with employers who have employment opportunities in Hertfordshire. 
You will receive a blended approach of theory led sessions and practical work experience. 
This 4-week programme includes the following qualifications: PPE, Health and Safety in Construction Environment, CSCS Test, Manual Handling, First Aid, Fundamentals and Basic Techniques in the Construction Trades, Working effectively on site and Work Experience. 
Additional Eligibility: 
A good level of written and speaking English (To a minimum of level 1 or Grade D/E/3) 
Start Date: 16th March 
End Date: 30th March 
  • Duration: 11 days 
  • Days/Times: Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm 
  • Location: Face to Face at our St Albans Campus (Please note there will be one day offsite but still in St Albans) 
Looking to gain the knowledge and skills to work towards becoming a General Labourer and/or a Traffic Marshal? 
This course allows individuals to gain the relevant knowledge and skills to be able to work within these industries with a guaranteed interview with employers who have employment opportunities in Hertfordshire. 
You will receive a blended approach of theory led sessions and practical work exercises along with PPE. 
This 11-day programme includes the following qualifications: First Aid at Work, Fire Safety and Manual Handling, Health and Safety in the Construction Environment, CSCS Test, Traffic Marshall, Small tools, Introduction into the rail industry and Employability 
Additional Eligibility: 
A good level of written and speaking English (To a minimum of level 1 or Grade D/E/3)

Supporting Employers

You can utilise the funded Skills Bootcamps to support your recruitment needs or challenges at no cost, by working in partnership with Oaklands on your requirements and creating a bespoke curriculum relevant to your company and the wider industry. On completion of the programme, you can interview our graduates and offer employment if applicable.

You can also upskill your current staff members with the right knowledge and skills with subsidised* training to support their continued development for a new role/promotion, or additional responsibilities within their current role.
