Oaklands Wolves Football Academy 

For The Elite

Following 15 years as Oaklands College’s primary Football Academy, we present to you Oaklands Wolves Football Academy.

We aim to develop our players ability, skills and knowledge of the game and to provide opportunities for them to progress into men’s football within the professional and semi-professional game.

Former professional footballer and academy Manager Steve Castle heads up a coaching staff of FA Licensed, UEFA A and UEFA B qualified coaches.

To ensure you develop to the best of your ability our coaches deliver a minimum of:

  • 16 hours of coaching each week
  • A detailed programme in order to develop a players technical, tactical, psychological and physical needs.
  • Individual 1 to 1 sessions are provided by way of a performance clock detailing every element of the player's football requirements
  • A position specific pathway is created between player and coach


  • Ex-professional footballer
  • 19 year playing career
  • 18 year coaching career to-date
  • Picking up all his coaching badges along the way including his UEFA A License
    Previously worked for Stevenage and West Ham as academy manager.
  • Previous manager of St Albans City FC, now in charge of Royston Town.
  • Gained promotion with them in 2016/17 to the clubs highest ever league, Step 3.



All teams competing in ‘English Colleges Football Association, ECFA’.

Elite – Competing on Cat 1 (Highest college league available)
U19’s – Competing in Cat 2
U17’s – Competing in Cat 2
U19’s Development – Competing in Cat 3
U17’s Development – Competing in Cat 3

These teams have a two way pathway depending on each individual's needs and on their development as a player. The teams compete in the English Colleges Football Association (ECFA).

The scheme offers genuine opportunities for individuals to achieve their full potential as a footballer whilst continuing o study a broad range of courses on offer by the College.

Boys Celebrating win

The Academy has a proven pathway for progression into the professional game, boasting a Youth International as a former Academy graduate, as well as extensive contacts and links to professional clubs and their Academies. The link with St Albans City Football Club, Royston Town and other semi-professional clubs has also seen numerous players play at the top end of the semi-professional, non-league pyramid.
