The Stables Restaurant
Set on the outskirts of St Albans and in the heart of a 200 acre estate, the Stables is a fully functioning restaurant that has been built to the highest standard to train the next generation of chefs, restaurateurs and hoteliers. We pride ourselves in offering our students invaluable experience in order to get them ready to take on the world.
This modern, open plan dining area allows our guests to experience the ‘theatre of cooking’ and watch our students prepare your homemade meal to order. Our team of award winning chefs lead all of our Hospitality & Catering students to create an enjoyable experience at the Stables Restaurant, providing on the job experience which is identical to that of any working kitchen.
Located in the grounds of Oaklands, this award wining restaurant is a brilliant location to celebrate a special occasion.
Weekday Opening Times
You can pop in and grab lunch with us at the Stables on select weekdays in the week for takeaway or waiter/waitress service.
- Monday - Waitress/waiter service: 12 - 1pm
- Tuesday - Over-counter service: 12 - 1pm
- Wednesday - Closed
- Thursday - Closed (3 course evening dinner service available)
- Friday - Over-counter service: 12 - 1pm

On select Thursday evenings, our restaurant steps it up a notch to offer a full three-course dinner service, created and served by our Hospitality and Catering students. Seating takes place between 6pm-6:30pm, after which you'll receive full table service whilst able to watch the students at work in our open kitchen.
Thursday evenings at The Stables take different formats:
- Fine dining nights are an opportunity to experience great skills and beautifully prepared food which earned us the AA Rosette in 2017.
- Themed nights are a great way to explore new food, flavours and explore some of your favourite types of food.
- The Stables Saver is a way to enjoy delicious food cooked for you by our students, at a bargain price of only £15 for three courses.

In addition to our daily lunchtime service, The Stables also hosts fine dining evenings to truly replicate any professional working restaurant. After a pre-dinner drink in the bar area, guests are welcomed to their table for a three course meal delivered by our students. The open plan restaurant gives our guests an insight to the real life pressures chefs tackle every day and the ultimate responsibility of cooking meals to order for paying customers.
