About the course

Take your writing to the next level with this exciting follow-on course designed for learners who have completed a beginner's creative writing programme or have some prior writing experience. Over five weeks, you will continue to develop your storytelling skills, exploring how to craft compelling narratives with strong beginnings, engaging middles and satisfying endings. Through practical writing exercises, group discussions and constructive feedback, you'll build confidence in your writing while developing your own unique voice. The course will also introduce you to a range of opportunities for sharing and promoting your work, including blog writing, preparing query letters for agents and publishers, and entering writing competitions. You'll gain valuable insight into the publishing world, with guidance on both traditional publishing routes and self-publishing options. Building on the foundations of creative writing, you'll revisit and strengthen the core principles of effective storytelling while exploring how these techniques can be applied beyond fiction. Discover how creative writing skills can transform non-fiction, making factual writing more engaging, vivid and marketable. As non-fiction can often offer greater publication opportunities, this course will show you how to combine creativity with real-world subjects to captivate your readers. By the end of the course, you will have developed a portfolio of writing, a deeper understanding of the writing process, and greater confidence in pursuing your writing goals.
