About Us

The Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy programme is tailored for talented players aged 16 and over who have competed at a high level and are committed to enhancing their netball abilities while pursuing academic qualifications. Participants have the option to enrol in various academic pathways, including A Levels and BTECs.

Located at the St Albans campus, the programme enables athletes to combine daily netball coaching sessions with their academic studies. With a focus on individual and team development, this player-centred approach ensures athletes improve their technical skills, expand their game knowledge, and successfully complete their chosen academic courses.

Programme Highlights

The Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy provides an elite training environment for athletes of all levels, offering opportunities for skill development alongside academic studies.

  • Welcoming all abilities, from school-level players to national franchises  
  • Ranked 3rd place in the country
  •  Guidance in selecting netball clubs and national franchise trials  
  • AOC Consistent participation, with successful selection since 2017/18

Important Information

The Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy offers elite netball training alongside academic studies at Oaklands College. As part of the East Region Netball College team, they reached the National Colleges Finals in 2020/21, finishing 7th in the country. Open to all enrolled students, the academy provides top-tier coaching, excellent facilities, and individualised support.

Oaklands Netball competes in the AOC Eastern Regional League 1 and welcomes athletes of all abilities, from school players to those in National Franchises. The academy aims for 12 athletes per team, depending on student intake. They assist athletes in finding local clubs, encourage trials for National Franchises, and send representatives to the AOC National College selections, where one athlete was successfully selected in the 2017/18 season.

To join the Oaklands Wolves Netball Academy, you simply need to be enrolled on one of our full-time courses. Once you're part of the programme, you’ll train, compete, and develop alongside like-minded student-athletes.

All academy players are also required to purchase official Oaklands Wolves kit, available through our supplier, KitKing.

Since 2013 the Netball Academy has witnessed a remarkable rise of over 20 stars, who have progressed to County, Regional and International Leagues, as well as the National Premier League.

World School Games Brings Local Pupils Together at Oaklands College

Oaklands College proudly hosted the World School Games today, welcoming schools from across the local area for a fun-filled day of sport and activity. Young students took part in a variety of sporting sessions led by Oaklands coaches and supported by college students. Activities included karate, cycling, and football, giving pupils the chance to try something new in a friendly and inclusive environment. The World School Games is always a highlight on the calendar — a lovely, lively event that brings the community together through sport. It not only gives young children the chance to build confidence and learn new skills, but also allows Oaklands students to take on leadership roles and inspire the next generation. Which Sports Academy are you interested in joining? *

Please note, young people with an Education Health and Care Plan (EHCP) or additional SEND and/or medical needs MUST be declared.  For those with an EHCP, the College is required to follow a statutory ‘Consultation’ process to ensure a student’s needs can be met within the College. We ask that students with any other additional needs that do not have an EHCP declare their needs so we can assess any provision required.  Students can make the appropriate declarations on their College application.  Failure to declare an EHCP or additional SEND/health needs can impact on the young person’s application to the College and access to the Academies.
