Here at Oaklands we are recognised by the lead Greenkeeping education body (GTC) and one of the UK's leading providers in Greenkeeping courses.
We offer work based qualifications at Levels 2 to 4 including Level 2 and 3 apprenticeships. In addition we offer short courses in the NPTC certificates of competence PA1/2 and 6. Our work-based Level 2 to 4 courses are delivered on line to suit the needs of the employer and the student thus saving time and money that would otherwise be needed for the journey to the college. This system enables students to learn when and where suits them and their employer best.
A Greenkeeper is responsible for the maintenance, care and overall appearance of a golf course. There are over 3,000 golf clubs in the UK, run privately or by local authorities and at Oaklands College you can build both the skills and practical experience you need to become a Greenkeeper.
The Golf industry contributes €15.1 billion to the economy across Europe and £5.1 billion in the UK alone and offers huge potential for careers. Oaklands College works with some of the premier clubs in the UK including The Grove, Stoke Park and Woburn. Our students benefit from excellent teaching and learning and have shown their success through winning the UK Toro Student Greenkeeper of the year five times as well as 2 City and Guilds medals of excellence. Situated in St Albans, Oaklands College is centre of the extensive golf provision around London and the Home Counties.
All of our full time programmes include opportunities to support and enhance your learning so that you can achieve your goals and ambitions. Students enrol on a Study Programme which individualises their education whilst enhancing their employability skills. A Study programme is made up of four key elements which includes a main vocational qualification, the development of English and maths through the study of GCSE’s or Functional Skills, Work-related learning through work experience and Personal Development Reviews.
