A Level English Literature (AQA)
Overview
You will study a wide range of prose, plays and poetry throughout the two years of this course. You will examine the following genres in detail:
– Crime
– Tragedy
You will also produce coursework applying Feminist and Marxist critiques to texts of your choice.
Am I right for the course?
If you have a passion for exploring and discussing different texts produced in a wide range of cultural and historical periods, then English Literature is the subject for you! This course enables you to discover how literature makes sense of the world through studying novels, poems and plays. It opens up a world of creativity and inspiration, while also developing skills that are essential for today’s global environment.
A minimum of 5 GCSEs at 5, with a minimum of a 7 in English Literature or English Language
You will sit various in-class assessments over the two-year course, leading up to formal exams at the end of the second year. You will also complete two pieces of coursework, applying Marxist and Feminist critiques to texts of your choice.

What Next?
English Literature is a wide-ranging, challenging and popular A Level. It is an appropriate choice for those considering careers in journalism, freelance writing, teaching, editing, marketing, PR and many more. It combines well with A Levels in Law, Sociology, Business and Psychology as well as BTEC courses in Art, Fashion and Photography.
A Levels can lead you onto many different career paths, including university to further develop your skills in your chosen subject(s).

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
