Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training

Overview

This 15 week course is specifically for adult learners (age 19+) who wish to pursue a career as an employed or self-employed Personal Trainer. The qualification is based on the Chartered Institute for the Management of Sport and Physical Activity (CIMSPA) professional standards for personal training and includes all the elements required to work effectively as a Personal Trainer.

Course Content - What will I learn?

The qualification includes all the required elements to work effectively personal trainer. You must achieve all mandatory units which include:

Applied anatomy for exercise, fitness, health and wellbeing,
Designing and delivering personal training programmes,
Nutrition for exercise, fitness, health and wellbeing,
Business awareness and acuity for personal trainers

Throughout this qualification, you will develop your knowledge and understanding of relevant anatomy and physiology in an applied context. You will also develop the knowledge, understanding and skills to consult with clients, gather relevant lifestyle information and conduct appropriate fitness assessments; this information will be applied to programme and deliver personal training sessions, provide appropriate healthy eating guidance and support clients with changing lifestyle behaviours to promote health and wellbeing.

You will also develop business awareness in an applied context. In parallel,you will develop your communication and customer service skills, your awareness of environmental sustainability and their commercial skills, all of which are valued highly by employers. Problem solving, team working skills and research skills will also be developed.

Am I right for the course?

You must want to become a personal trainer, have good personal organising skills and be able to work well on your own as this is a busy course and there are constant deadlines to be met. You should be a minimum of 19 years old.

A Level 2 qualification in fitness training.

Assessment methods are varied, and include projects, case studies, practical assessments and external multiple choice exam papers. Practical assessments will be performed on a range of clients in a real working environment.

Tutors with experience of working in the Health and Fitness industry.

What Next?

Employment and further skils by completing an exercise referral qualification and then progressing to a specialist qualification including developing further at level 4.

Our Sports courses will help you get to the ceiling of your ability and this could be Regional, National or even International level competition. You could also progress to University or into direct employment.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
