Level 1 Certificate in Basic Construction Skills (Multiskills)
This full time program is an ideal introduction to the construction industry and covers basic skills in the construction trades.
Course Content - What will I learn?
You will learn how to complete basic brickwork along with basic carpentry & joinery, plastering, rendering, painting and decorating. You may also have the opportunity to undertake basic electrics such as wiring a plug and pendant lights and basic plumbing tasks such as how to cut, bend and join pipes.
You will also study English and Maths as part of your programme at a level appropriate for you.
Am I right for the course?
If you don’t know what construction trade to follow then this course is for you.
GCSE Grade 2 / Grade E or above in Maths and English.
You will be tasked to undertake trade relevant practical jobs after learning how to carry out the activity first. You will have to complete a little bit of theory for the City & Guilds qualification plus a Functional Skills maths assessment towards the end of the year.
You will be taught by trade specific tutors who will guide you through relevant trade areas.
On completion of multi trades you will have the opportunity to apply for a trade specific course in your chosen trade area
Trowel trades can lead you onto many different career paths, including higher level courses to further develop your skills in your chosen subject(s).
16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
