Overview
The units prepare students to move on to specific areas of electrical and electronic engineering at Level 6 or to enter employment with the qualities and abilities necessary for roles that require personal responsibility and decision making. Students will be able to develop and apply their own ideas to their studies, to deal with uncertainty and complexity, to explore solutions, demonstrate critical evaluation and use both theory and practice in a wide range of engineering situations. By the end of Level 5 study, students will have a sound understanding of the principles in their area of specialist study and will know how to apply those principles more widely in the industry. They will be able to perform effectively in their specialist area.
Course Content - What will I learn?
Students will gain a wide range of scientific and engineering knowledge linked to practical skills obtained through research, independent study, directed study and workplace scenarios. Students are involved in vocational activities that help them to develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for a competence) and transferable skills. Transferable skills are those such as communication, teamwork, research and analysis, which are highly valued in higher education and in the workplace.

Am I right for the course?
If you enjoyed your college experience at Level 3 but are not sure that a full time university course is for direction, then a HTQ could be for you.
To be considered for admission into the program, applicants should meet the following criteria:
1. Educational Qualifications:
• Possess a Level 3 qualification in Engineering. Preferably at Merit or Distinction grades.
2. GCSE Passes:
• Possess GCSE passes in English and Maths, specifically on the Higher paper.
Please note that meeting these entry criteria will be essential for consideration into the programme
Candidates are assessed by a variety of methods, including case studies, assignments, presentations and work-based projects.
You will be provided with details of the assignment requirements for each Unit. Students will be encouraged to engage with personal and professional development, gaining formative feedback on progress towards Unit outcomes, and developing knowledge and competence in the discipline.
Summative assessment is mainly through coursework. Students will evidence their progress through written academic essays and reports, or practical activities, which will vary according to each individual Unit assessment requirements.
Each Unit will carry more than one assessment task in order to meet the learning outcomes and criteria for the Unit as a whole.
There are no summative written exams for this course, however in some Units, your knowledge may be formatively assessed through in class tests.
This course is studied full-time in 2 years, 2 days a week.
Your tutors will include highly skilled and motivated engineers in both the mechanical and electrical/electronic fields. They have experience in industry sectors such as aerospace, manufacturing, oil and gas.

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.
For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.
Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.
All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
