Overview

The Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) prepares you to become an Early Years Educator, enabling you to work with and care for children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years.

Course Content - What will I learn?

This qualification consists of 23 mandatory units structured around 4 themes:

Theme 1: Health and Well-being
Theme 2: Legislation, frameworks and professional practice
Theme 3: Play, development and learning for school readiness
Theme 4: Professional Development

You will also complete a longitudinal study and be assessed on competence in a real work environment.

Am I right for the course?

You need to have good communication skills and sufficient education/literacy and numeracy skills to undertake
the qualification.

You will need to be working in a school, as an important part of the assessment process involves evaluating skills in real working situations. You will need to be aged 19+ and have a good level of English.

You will need to complete all mandatory units. All units are internally assessed.

All learners at Oaklands college take part in initial assessment in Maths and English. This helps us to ensure that everyone reaches their full potential. There will be the opportunity to upgrade your literacy and numeracy
skills by undertaking recognised basic skills qualifications.

What Next?

Upon achievement of this qualification you will be able to enter the workforce as an Early Years Educator.
You could progress into various job roles in the statutory, voluntary or private sectors such as:
• practitioner in day nurseries
• practitioner in nursery schools
• practitioner in reception classes in primary schools
• pre-school worker
• home based child carer.

Fees

16-18 years old, no tuition fees apply to Full Time courses and fees subject to confirmation. Additional costs applicable to BHS courses.

For all two year courses fees shown above are per year.

Aged 19+ and planning to take a level 3 or above a different fee may apply. You may be eligible for an Advanced Learning Loan.

All HE courses (full and part time) are subject to tuition fees.
