Meet: Summer

Summer joined the college in September 2021 on the VRQ Level 1 course she is deaf and has vison impairment. In October 2021 Summer competed in her first culinary competition at The Craft Guild of Chefs British Student Culinary Competition. Were she won the following awards:- Gateau Challenge Gold Cupcakes Tasted Certificate of Merit She also won Best Overall Practical student across all classes. The judges were very complementary about her skills and level of professionalism for someone who had only been in the industry a few months. In March 2022 Summer entered into The International Salon Culinaire Competition and won two further silver awards. Summer has her own food blog http://www.thesoundbaker.com/  and has linked up with one of our old students Cassie Best who is now Food Director and author for BBC Good Food. In June 2022 she won the principles award for outstanding practice. Summer won a merit for her Afternoon Tea Pastries at the International Salon Culinaire London in March 2023. Summer then won Gold Best in Class at the British Culinary Competition for her Afternoon Tea Pastries May 2023. Summer is currently in a Michelin starred restaurant and 5 star hotel in Ireland  as a Chef de Partie in the pastry section.
