Extended Diploma in Fashion Design student Shera Conway dedicated her time and skill to creating ten pairs of emerald scrubs for NHS front line workers during lockdown.

Shera, who sewed her own personal message into the collars of each of the gowns, developed the idea by stumbling across a Facebook group called ‘For The Love of Scrubs’.

The group, set up by a local tailor, was fundraising to raise money for equipment and materials to create more scrubs for key workers and needed volunteers who had a machine and overlocker to help manufacture the gowns.

Shera was inspired by the cause and got in touch with the project to offer her services.

On behalf of Oaklands College, we are incredibly proud of the selflessness displayed by all of our students during the unprecedented times surrounding COVID-19, all students and staff have played a vital role in ensuring our community college continues to act on behalf of those around us.
