Sponsored by Sainsbury’s, the World of Food Festival, featured restaurants from Indian, Chinese and Indonesian, to Caribbean, Italian and African. There was also a chocolatier selling unusual creations such as apple chocolates and Oaklands very own catering team produced fantastic sugar icing cupcakes and showed visitors how to make sugar flowers.

Cooking demonstrations took place all day and entertainment such as African dancers, Asian drummers and Belly Dancing delighted crowds.

Oaklands beauty students ran face painting and offered Indian head massages, as well as the construction team offering games for children and there were stalls selling clothes, jewellery and offering henna.

Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, said: “This was the first time we have run the World of Food Festival in Welwyn Garden City and it was a great success. The festival brought the community together and it was a family day out, with something for everyone. I would like to thank our partners, the team and everyone who came, for making the day such a success.”
