Oaklands College announce exciting Arsenal Women Football Academy Agreement

Oaklands College are proud to announce a new link with current FA Women’s Super League Champions Arsenal Women Football Club, creating an exciting new Women’s Football Academy for 16-19 year olds, that combines football excellence with academic studies starting this September 2019.

The new Academy combines academic excellence and a bespoke coaching programme to develop talented young women, who will have the opportunity to study a wide variety of courses including A-Level and vocational qualifications at Oaklands College. Students will be coached by experienced FA Licensed coaches, working in conjunction with Arsenal Women Football Club, as well as access to physiotherapy, sports therapy, strength and conditioning coaching, providing an all rounded development programme to support players achieve their potential.

As a student studying at Oaklands College, we will focus on not only what you need to be successful on your course, but what you will need to be successful in your future career and personal lives. Our specialist lecturers will ensure our students achieve the best that they can by looking at their individual needs and ambitions and supporting them with the best possible learning environments to be successful.

As of Sept 2020, Oaklands College is due to become the Further Education provider for Arsenal Women WSL U21s Academy Programme ensuring their young female players can also pursue a dual career in football while continuing their education.

The academy are currently recruiting female players with outstanding ability, to begin studying and training with the possibility to live on-site at the college in September 2019.

The first of the open trials will be held on Wednesday 21^st August at 2-4PM, with the second running on Tuesday 27^th August at 2-4PM.  Following the trials there will also be an opportunity to meet college staff to discuss academic interests.

Oaklands are further planning significant investment to their facilities, with a state-of-the-art residential facility in construction to provide exemplary on-site accommodation for future Sports Academy students for Summer 2020, as well as a brand new 3G pitch to be completed for October 2019 and a number of brand new grass pitches.

Oaklands College are determined to continue offering a successful female Football provision and are delighted to work with Arsenal Women FC, the most successful Women’s Super League club in the country and look forward to welcoming prospective students to the college.
