The Saracens Academy Apprentices at Oaklands College recorded a 34-18 bonus point win over Sale Sharks Apprentices (Myerscough College) on Wednesday.

Tries from Tom Knight, Shane Combrink, Alex Smith, Ross Bird and Adam Theobald secured a five try win, keeping Oaklands in second place in the RFU National Apprenticeship League (Northern Conference).

With Academy players Tom Jubb and Alex Smith rested after their inclusion in the Storm win over Oxford University on Monday night, it was an outstanding effort, with fellow Academy players Nick Auterac and Max Crumpton to the fore, with a dominant set piece performance.

Bry White again was influential in the back row with a relentless work rate, and James Ayrton was always able to threaten the opposition in the wide channels with his power and pace.

With league games against Northampton Saints Apprentices (Moulton College), and a return fixture against Sale Sharks before the Christmas break, the Saracens Apprentices will want to continue their winning ways and close the gap on leaders Hartpury going in the New Year with the Championship play offs in view.
