The College has high hopes for Saracens Academy student and England U18 centre

Nick Tompkins

Nick has been catching the eye of many coaches for his leadership qualities. Saracens Academy Manager, Matt Davies, commented: “Nick brings natural leadership to any side that he plays in; he’s just naturally that sort of player. I am sure he will continue to have a leadership role as he progresses into senior rugby.

“Recent performances for Saracens u18 in the new Aviva academy league and off the bench in the Aviva A league final against Harlequins were eye opening.

“Nick brings great speed, footwork, skills and a real physical presence in the midfield. In the U18 fixture he was almost untouchable. He is a natural attacking player and scored an outstanding individual try against Wasps and he definitely brings something rare to the game.”

Head of Rugby at Oaklands College, Dave Hesketh, said: “Nick has had that X-Factor from a young age. He does things he shouldn’t be able to do; he is lethal in a one-on-one situation.

“He has started to show that he can have an impact in bigger games, like the A league final. What is impressive is that he is conscious of the areas he needs to work on.”
