On Sunday, Oaklands College Riding for the Disabled (RDA) team competed in the tough Eastern Regional RDA Qualifier, held at the College, and walked away triumphant with six winners and eight riders going through to the National Championships.

Over 90 riders competed on the day in classes including walk, trot, canter and the Countryside Challenge which requires riders to negotiate an obstacle course. Oaklands College RDA team riders gained first and second places and worked hard to achieve their dream of reaching the final  on 9th & 10th July at Hartpury College in Gloucestershire.

Sarah Moreland, Pathway Manager for Business & ICT, commented: “The whole of the Eastern Region RDA have gone away very happy! We were delighted with the efforts of the Oaklands RDA team and their results just show what hard work both the learners, instructors and volunteers continue to put in.”

Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College and keen supporter of RDA, said: “We were proud to host the Eastern Regional Qualifier this year and be involved in the competition at every level. Our students have achieved outstanding success and we are all keeping our fingers crossed for the final in July.”
