On Monday 3 March members of the public were invited to The Alban Arena for the return of Oaklands College’s Your Future Fair. The event, now in its second year, proved another popular success attracting over 900 job seekers, school leavers and their parents from across the region interested in finding out more about job opportunities and post school options.
In addition to over 70 exhibitors including Archant, MBDA, Waitrose, Blue Arrow and GlaxoSmithKline, visitors were able to attend presentations on CV writing, interview techniques and apprenticeships. The Future Fair was sponsored by St Albans District Council and organised in partnership with Job Centre Plus, Youth Connexions, the Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce and National Apprenticeship Service.
An attendee of the event commented: “The day opened my eyes to new ideas.”
Zoe Hancock, Principal of Oaklands College, commented: “Today was a great example of how the College can provide opportunities for its community; to work with our partners to promote jobs, careers, further education and training to allow individuals to make informed choices about their future.”
